There's nothing quite like the ring of a
great Martin guitar and a smooth vocal
performing a great melody! Larry made
a decision long ago that there would be no drum machine, phase shifters or any other gimmicks when he goes out to perform solo-just voice and guitar. Oh don't misunderstand- that dosen't mean that it has to be lule you to sleep stuff. It can be mellow but it it can also be rowdy! Larry works the room and brings the energy level to compliment, not fight what's going on. From folk festivals to listening rooms to taverns, private parties and coorporate functions, Larry has satisfied them all.
Larry has performed for the Florida Folk Festival, the Gamble Rogers Folk Festival, the South Florida Folk Festival, the Wil Mclean Music Festival, Carrboro Arts Center, Spirit of The Suwannee Music Park, Ponte Vedra Inn, Amelia Island Plantation, Whitey's Fish Camp, Ritz Carlton, Lake Eustis Arts Festival, The Riverhouse-literally hundreds of major corporations!

The Trio is typically acoustic rhythm, electric bass and electric and/or acoustic lead guitar. Speciality instruments such as dobro or steel are also sometimes featured.

Larry has been fortunate to have some of Florida's finest musicians in his band from "MANGO" in the '70's through "THE COWBOY ORCHESTRA" of today.
The '80's Urban Cowboy era made the southern country rock of "THE LARRY MANGUM BAND" very successful and launched a long period of touring on the college circuit from Florida to Colorado to Virginia and all points in between! Great musicians like David Gum, Tim Briggs, David Dobson, Jim Graves, Brady Green, Mike Maple and Randall Hall from Lynyrd Skynyrd were all part of that effort.
In the late '80 Larry formed "THE INVISIBLE COWBOYS" with Kevin Banks, Terry Campbell, Jeff Alford, Brian Homan and Fran Williams. That band was twice selected the best country band in North Florida!
Since the mid 90's Larry has focused on western swing with his "COWBOY ORCHESTRA! Lonnie Portwood, John LeMaster, Woodie Berlin, Rick Rivas, Jesse Mangum, Chet Gibson, Chuck Haynie and Keith Portwood all continue to make great music with Larry.
